The IFD-NET Evo Baro is a specific digital instrument designed to replace traditional "steam gauge" flight instruments like the altimeter, airspeed indicator (ASI), or vertical speed indicator (VSI).

While the Evo EFIS (Base/Plus) mimics a modern glass cockpit horizon, the Evo Baro uses a "hybrid" digital look—it displays data using classic-style moving needles (arrows) on a high-definition round screen.

Core Functions

The Evo Baro is a highly flexible unit that can be configured to act as any of the following primary instruments:

  • Altimeter: Displays altitude with a digital subscale for pressure setting.
  • Airspeed Indicator (ASI): Shows speed with traditional "clock-face" needle movement.
  • Vertical Speed Indicator (VSI): Displays rate of climb or descent.

Key "Baro" Specific Features

  • Classic Aesthetics: It is specifically marketed for pilots who want the precision of digital sensors but prefer the "at-a-glance" readability of a physical needle.
  • Barometric Adjustment: It features a dedicated interface for adjusting the reference pressure (QNH or QFE). On the 80mm Evo unit, you simply rotate the knob to change the pressure value, which then updates your altitude reading.
  • High Precision: Because it uses solid-state pressure sensors (MEMS), it is far more resistant to vibration and wear than the mechanical bellows found in old analogue altimeters.
  • Dual Display: Even when showing a "needle," it typically includes a precise digital readout in the centre of the gauge for exact figures.

Why choose the "Baro" over the "EFIS"?

  • Familiarity: If you are used to scanning round gauges, the Baro unit fits your existing "mental model" better than a horizontal tape-style EFIS.
  • Partial Upgrades: Many UK pilots use the Evo EFIS Plus as their primary horizon but keep an Evo Baro (configured as an Altimeter or ASI) alongside it as a modernised, reliable backup that still looks like a traditional instrument.
