The IFD-NET Evo EFIS Base is the essential standalone flight instrument in the Evo range. While it uses the same high-end 80mm hardware as the "Plus" model, it is designed as a focused, single-screen replacement for traditional mechanical gauges.
In the UK, it is commonly used by microlight and permit aircraft owners who want a modern, reliable Primary Flight Display (PFD) without the additional cost or complexity of 3D synthetic vision and moving maps.
Core Functions & Description
The Base model provides all the critical "six-pack" flight data on a single, high-definition screen. Unlike the "Slave" units, the Base is a Master unit with its own internal sensors.
- Primary Flight Display (PFD): Displays a digital artificial horizon, Indicated Airspeed (IAS), Barometric Altitude, and Vertical Speed (VSI).
- GPS Integration: Includes an internal GPS receiver to display Ground Speed (GS) and GPS-based track information alongside your pitot-static data.
- Single-Environment Software: The "Base" software is limited to a single primary screen layout. It does not allow you to toggle through the six different pages (Map, HSI, TAWS, etc.) found in the Plus version.
- Safety Features: Includes a built-in Slip/Skid indicator (the "ball") and a G-meter with peak recording to monitor airframe stress.
Comparison: Evo Base vs. Evo Plus
If you are deciding between the two, the physical unit you hold in your hand is exactly the same; the difference is purely the software features unlocked:
- Evo Base: Best for those who use a tablet (like SkyDemon) for navigation and only need the 80mm gauge for attitude and air data.
- Evo Plus: Best for those who want full redundancy, including 3D terrain and a moving map built directly into the instrument panel.
