The IFD-NET EFIS Base (classic version) is the predecessor to the current "Evo" model. While it has been largely superseded by the Evo range, many of these units are still active in UK microlight and permit-to-fly aircraft panels.
The primary difference between this classic Base model and the newer Evo version is the hardware housing and screen brightness. The classic version features a wider metallic bezel and a standard digital display, whereas the Evo version moved to a "real round" ultra-thin bezel and a much brighter 1200-nit screen.
Core Description
The IFD-NET EFIS Base is a self-contained Primary Flight Display (PFD). It is designed to be a "plug-and-play" replacement for a standard 80mm mechanical artificial horizon. It integrates an internal AHRS, pressure sensors, and a GPS receiver into a single unit.
- Primary Screen: Unlike the "Plus" or "Map" versions, the Base model is restricted to one single flight page. It does not allow you to toggle to a moving map or synthetic vision.
-
Data Displayed: It provides a standard "T" arrangement of flight data:
- Artificial Horizon: Digital attitude indicator with pitch and roll.
- Airspeed (IAS): Colour-coded speed tapes.
- Altitude: Barometric altitude with an adjustable pressure subscale (QNH/QFE).
- Vertical Speed (VSI): Digital and tape-style climb/descent rate.
- GPS Ground Speed: Derived from the internal GPS.
- Slip Indicator: A digital "ball" at the bottom of the horizon.
Technical Specifications
- Installation: Fits a standard 80mm (3.125") panel hole.
- Power: 10V to 30V DC (low draw, approx. 200mA).
- Sensors: Internal solid-state AHRS, barometric pressure, and GPS.
- Expansion: Includes the Fly Bus (RS485) connection to drive a Slave unit if required.
