For paramotor pilots in the UK, "PPG Meter" usually refers to the Fly Henry PPG Meter, a highly regarded engine management system specifically designed for the vibration and weather of powered paragliding.
The system is unique because it uses a two-module design: a small Measurement Module stays near the engine to keep sensor wires short, while a Visualization Module (the display) sits on your flight deck or harness.
Key Features & Functions
The 2024–2025 model includes several safety and monitoring tools that are standard for UK cross-country pilots:
- Start Monitor System: A standout safety feature that monitors RPM during startup. If the engine revs too high (e.g., due to a stuck throttle), it automatically kills the ignition to prevent a "prop strike" accident.
- Comprehensive Monitoring: Tracks RPM, dual temperatures (CHT or EGT), and Flight Timers (4 separate engine hour logs).
- Fuel Management: Measures fuel level (litres/gallons) and consumption (actual/average). It can even calculate your remaining flight time based on current fuel levels.
- Weather Resistance: Features membrane buttons and a rain-resistant housing, essential for the unpredictable British weather.
Important Note on Sensors
The standard kit includes the display, the measurement module, and one CHT (Cylinder Head Temp) sensor. If you want to monitor fuel levels or EGT (Exhaust Gas Temp), you will need to purchase those specific sensors separately.
