Flybox Vigilus Engine Information System (80 mm)

The Flybox Vigilus is a comprehensive Engine Information System (EIS) and fuel management computer designed for Ultralight, Light Sport (LSA), Experimental aircraft, and Helicopters. Fitting directly into a standard 80 mm (3⅛″) hole, it centralises all critical powerplant parameters onto a vibrant, sunlight-readable 3.5″ display—pairing a slim cockpit unit with a remote engine module for clean, simple firewall-forward installation.

Panel Mounting Standard 80 mm (3⅛″)
Display Tech 3.5″ TFT (1,000 Nits)
Operating Voltage 10 V – 30 V DC
Alert System Spoken Vocal Warnings
Datalogging CSV USB Export

Dedicated Flight & Powerplant Environments

Rotate the centre control knob to cycle through dedicated full-colour operational screens:

01

Primary Engine Telemetry

Continuous monitoring of RPM, MAP, Oil Pressure, Oil Temperature, Fuel Pressure, and up to 6× CHT and 6× EGT cylinders. A pre-takeoff status monitor displays red WARMUP until all temperatures and pressures are safe, switching to green READY.

02

Engine Temperature Diagnostics

Pressing F1 opens a schematic of your engine block, displaying individual CHT and EGT readings per cylinder alongside calculated temperature differentials (ΔEGT and ΔCHT) to identify fouling or balance issues instantly.

03

Flight Timers & Electrical Bus

Combines GPS-synced local/UTC time, an automatic flight timer triggered by engine RPM, an in-flight resettable lap timer, precision bus voltmeter, and an ammeter gauge for alternator charge/discharge monitoring.

04

Fuel Management & Computer

Monitors up to 3 physical tanks via capacitive or resistive senders. When combined with a fuel flow transducer and GPS, it calculates real-time flow rate, burned fuel, endurance, total range, reserve at destination, and tank-balance alerts.

Engine Lifecycle Analytics & 100–200 Hour Datalogger

  • Zone-by-Zone Hourmeter: Logs total engine operating hours broken down into exact time spent running in green, yellow, and red operating zones.
  • Peak RPM Tracking: Automatically records last flight duration, maximum peak RPM reached during the last flight, and lifetime maximum RPM ever sustained.
  • High-Rate Datalogging: Records every parameter once per second into internal memory. Review flights graphically on-screen with cursor scrolling or export to USB as a standard .CSV file for Excel.
  • Composite Video Support: Supports up to 3 composite video inputs via the optional Flybox USB Video Grabber (Cod 653000), allowing cockpit display of landing gear, tail, or cargo cameras.

Headset Spoken Audio Alerts

  • Direct Intercom Audio: Verbal voice alerts broadcast over your headset for low oil pressure, overspeed, high CHT, and low fuel.
  • Custom Repeat Cycles: Customise voice warning repetitions (1 to 5 times) and set audio output volume to match your intercom.
  • Auto-Reset Functions: Visual and vocal warnings automatically clear once parameters return to safe operating ranges.

Remote Engine Module Architecture

  • Clean Firewall Forwarding: Senders terminate at the compact remote module, running a single digital CAN-bus link to the dashboard.
  • External Annunciator Outputs: Four programmable active-low outputs can drive external cockpit master warning lamps.
  • Rotax 912iS Native Support: Reads dual ECU (A & B) parameters directly via CAN communication with zero analogue sensor taps.

Data Storage & Expansion 100–200 hour internal datalogger, USB flash export, optional composite video adapter
Installation Note: When setting up your Vigilus, always select your engine preset first (e.g. Rotax 912, 914, or 912iS), as changing the engine configuration afterwards resets all thresholds to factory defaults. Calibrate fuel level senders by draining the tank and stepping through your chosen calibration volume increments.
