The IFD-NET Evo Slave EFIS is the flight instrument counterpart to the EMS version. It is an 80mm (3.125 inch) digital display designed to act as a secondary or remote cockpit display, mirroring data from a "Master" EFIS unit.
Key Capabilities
While the "Slave" unit is physically identical to the high-end Evo Plus hardware, its software functionality is dependent on the Master unit it is connected to.
-
Full Feature Mirroring: It can display everything the Evo Plus master can, including:
- Artificial Horizon (PFD): Pitch, roll, and slip/skid information.
- Navigation: Moving maps, HSI (Horizontal Situation Indicator), and 3D Synthetic Vision.
- Air Data: IAS (Indicated Airspeed), TAS (True Airspeed), Altitude (with baro setting), and VSI (Vertical Speed Indicator).
- Terrain & Obstacles: TAWS (Terrain Awareness and Warning System).
- Expansion Solution: It is marketed as a "low-expense" way to expand a cockpit. Instead of buying two full-price EFIS units with internal sensors (AHRS/GPS), you buy one Master and one Slave.
- Hardware Improvements: Like all "Evo" units, it features the ultra-thin 2mm bezel and the 78mm high-definition round screen, providing significantly more viewable area than older 80mm digital gauges.
Technical Connection
The Slave unit connects to the Master unit via a high-speed digital bus (RS485).
- Sensors: The Slave unit does not typically use its own internal sensors for flight data; it receives processed data from the Master unit's AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System), GPS, and Pitot-Static inputs.
- Power: It requires its own 10-30V DC power connection but shares data via the 9-pin Sub-D connector on the rear.
