The Flying Eyes Kestrel is the brand’s classic aviator-style frame. Similar to the Kingfisher update, Flying Eyes has recently renamed this model; it is now officially known as the Cooper Narrow.
It is designed for those who want the timeless "Top Gun" look but need the specialized functionality of ultra-thin temples for use with aviation headsets, motorcycle helmets, or racing gear.
Key Features
- 1mm Micro-Thin Temples: Like all Flying Eyes frames, the Kestrel uses patented Resilamide™ temples. At just 1mm thick, they are thin enough to stay under a headset without breaking the noise-cancelling seal or causing "hot spots" on your temples.
- Aviator Styling: Features the iconic teardrop lens shape. Despite its classic look, the frame is entirely non-metal (made of aerospace polymer), making it extremely light and heat-resistant.
- Wrap-Around Temples: The arms do not hook behind the ears. Instead, they hug the side of the head, allowing you to slide the glasses on or off even after you’ve put on a tight-fitting helmet or headset.
- Nose Pad Comfort: Unlike traditional metal aviators with rigid nose pads, the Kestrel features a soft, smooth-surface nose pad that prevents slipping and won't get tangled in your hair if you rest the glasses on your head.
Sizing & Fit
The Kestrel (Cooper Narrow) is specifically scaled for small to medium face shapes. If you have a larger head or prefer a very "oversized" aviator look, you should look at the Cooper Standard.
