The Fly Henry Water/Oil Sensor for the FLY Meter is a specialized temperature probe used for real-time monitoring of liquid-cooled engines or engine oil. Unlike general-purpose sensors, this version is specifically designed to interface with the FLY Meter’s measurement module.

Core Functionality

In the FLY Meter system, this sensor is distinct from the CHT/EGT thermocouples. It is an NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) thermistor designed for lower temperature ranges:

  • Measurement Range: 0°C to 125°C (standard) or up to 300°C for specific high-heat models.
  • Dual Use: The same sensor is used for both water and oil; you simply configure the FLY Meter display to show the appropriate label.

Technical Specifications

  • Threads: Available in three metric sizes to fit engine blocks, water pump housings, or hose adapters:
  1. M6 x 1.0 mm
  2. M8 x 1.0 mm
  3. M10 x 1.0 mm
    • Cable Options:
    1. New Model: Features a 50 cm black insulated lead with a specific connector for the Fly Henry Measurement Module.
    2. Construction: Brass or stainless steel body for high thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance.

      FLY Meter Specific Configuration

Within the FLY Meter 2024/2025 menu settings, this sensor provides specific features that standard gauges lack:

      • Preset Profiles: The instrument includes preset curves for "New Fly Henry" and "Old Fly Henry" sensors so you don't have to manually calibrate resistance values.
      • Custom Calibration: If you use a non-Fly Henry sensor, the FLY Meter allows you to input custom resistance values to ensure the temperature reading is accurate.
      • Alarms: You can set a dedicated "Water/Oil Temperature Alarm" (e.g., at 110°C). When triggered, the FLY Meter display will flash and highlight the temperature value to grab your attention.
